Different fork mudguard bridges

Post by mdt-son »

Copied from a thread in the G80 section where someone wanted to fit 21" front wheel to his G80 roadster.

Fork bridge 014737 is for C section alloy or chromed steel mudguards and 19" wheels attached to Teledraulic forks.

Fork bridge for C section mudguards for 21" wheels is a different (extended) type. Used on G3C, G80/85CS, and G11/G12CS/CSR up to 1963. Teledraulic forks.

Another unknown part number is the fork bridge for C section mudguards for 19" wheels attached to Roadholder forks as used on G/N15CS, 1964-68.

Does anyone know the missing part numbers?

031667 Bridge piece for chrome or alloy front mudguard, 1966-on G15CS models
030093 Bridge piece for front mudguard, 1964-on road models, except 1966-on G15
014737 Bridge piece with reinforcing plate for 013947 & 024242 C, CS & CSR alloy mudguards (I've personally used this for 21" wheels and on a 63 CSR with 19" wheels)

Thank you Rob.

I realise 014737 fork bridge was the bridge to use for 21" front wheels initally, later used for CS, CSR and P11 models with 19" front wheels, leaving a huge gap.

013947 & 024242 alloy mudguards were both used on C and CS bikes with 21" front wheels as well as G11/G12 CSR models having 19" front wheels.

Is there a difference in width between 013947 & 024242, I wonder?

031667 is the assembled mudguard + bridge. I'd still like to know the separate bridge part number. It may have had a 06-xxxx part number from 1968 onwards.

Hi

Norville list 031591B as a chrome bridge for the G15CSR which has Norton Roadholder forks.

Note, the pitch of the slider studs is 1 5/16" on Roadholders as opposed to 1" on AMC forks so the parts are not directly interchangeable.

I made a bridge by bending a sheet of stainless steel over a former - couple of hours work saved £52.80 plus P&P :)
