Chaincase oil seal

Post by Columbo John »

Good morning everyone,

Can anyone tell me if I should have any other 'sealing' parts on the sliding seal of my G12?

Seeing as there is a big gap around the shaft, I can't seeing it keeping much oil in the way it currently is.

Hi John, nothing missing, the seal generally works okay in conjunction with the deflecting rib on the inner chaincase.
Pressed steel cases had just a larger hole/no seal behind the clutch until 1957 and relied on the internal deflectors.
If you are worried it would be possible to stick some thin additional felt on.

That's great, thanks for the info.

I think I often overthink these things :D
