Amal 626 concentric air / throttle screw position

Post by Chris B_LAPSED »

Hi all so got the carb back together and thanks to mick by suggesting to flattening the bowl surface and apply some wellseal i think iv stopped the fuel seaping from the gasket
...

next question is what position do people recommend the air screw and throttle adjust screw to be in? Reason i ask since putting the carb back on i seem to be getting a bit of back fire/ spit on engaging the throttle. Not every time. This didn't happen before I took the carb off! I may have moved the screws as when I first kicked the bike up iy was ticking over way to quick so brough that down to a nice tick over. The air screw is currently 1 full turn out. (Plugs a bit sooty black but not wet) any suggestions to settings on the carb please. (626 concentric)

Thanks in advance
Chris

Hi

The method of balancing the air and throttle screws is to warm the engine up, then adjust the air screw for the quickest running, then reduce the revs using the throttle screw, repeat as necessary until the desired / best tick over is obtained.
