Burman B52 Gearbox Nut

Hi All i am changing my front sprocket to 17 teeth [gearbox final drive chain not primary crank one] my question, is this a left hand thread and is there a special tool to remove it?

On the Burman it's right hand thread. It's a normal large hexagonal nut, so you need a large box spanner.

I should just undo like any other nut with a spanner. You will need the chain on, put the bike in gear also perhaps stand on the rear brake. Perhaps hit the spanner with a mallet to shock it loose. The later is the way Villiers engine flywheel nuts are shock loosened. They make a special spanner. one end fits the nut, the other end has a lump to hit. I use a ratchet, it's long handle allows you to shock loosen the nut by hand.

Cheers all undone now I used a punch but will be making a socket tomorrow to do it back up
