18cs?

Post by Heleander »

Hi! I´m new here and English isn´t my first language so have mercy with me.
I´m about to buy a claimed AJS 18 cs
The frame number is 5537c, gearbox GB2 J51, engine 51/G80 16071 with alloy barrel.
I´m aware the engine case is Matchless non comp., but the rest looks down to every detail like a -55 18cs
What do you all think?

Agreed, but my pic was to help him determine if the one he was considering looked 'right'. ;)

I´t seems a little bit complicated to uppload pictures here, is there an easy way? There are pictures to be seen on AJS Matchless Competition Enthusiast site under my name.

Nice looking bike but the front brake appears to be incorrectly fitted.

It is now dated by the club saying that this is an AJS 18cs -55 but with wrong engine and gearbox. According to the -55 sales broschures brake lever is pointing forward but in -56 it was tucked in under the fork. There is a kink in the lever arm so i will try to tuck it in as per -56.
