Replacement stud for missing inspection cover
This stud is missing and the threads need a little help.
Does any one know where I can find a replacement?
I would like to clean up the threads. Does anyone know the thread pitch?

3/16 BSF into the ali and the thread on the end for the nut is 2BA

Re: Replacement stud for missing inspection cover
Thank you for the info. I have not found the correct stud. But I found a tap to (hopefully) clean up the threads.
I did locate a 3/16 BSF cap screw to get by until I locate a stud.

It's not 3/16"BSF, it's definitely 2BA. Original specification was for it to be a force fit so that the stud didn't undo when loosening the nut. AMC did not use 3/16"BSF on any postwar part, though they did use 3/16"Whit on a few obscure racing parts.

Right you are!
I stumbled across a 2BA bolt at work today and put it in my pockets. I just fitted it to the head.
It looks like I ordered some parts I don’t need. (Never done that before) oh, well it should be an easy task to locate the proper stud.
Thank for the replies
I hope to fire this bike up during spring break when My “designated kicker” is home from college.

They are part number 000251 and the club spares has them in stock, according to the web-site.

But are they made to 3/16"BSF or 2BA? Other outlets no doubt have the right thread size if not...

Re: Replacement stud for missing inspection cover
3/16th BSF and 2BA are as near as dam it interchangeable one being 31.4 TPI and the other 32TPI. Having wound out a spare stud from my rocker box tried a 316th BSF and a 2BA and both wind on perfectly.
Sales are going well with no returns so they must be fine for use.

I'm surprised. Aside from the tpi, BSF thread angle is 55 degrees, BA is 47.5 degrees.

It's like 1/4 CEI and BSF 5 degrees between thread pitch but the nuts still screw on either.
