Jampot mk1 and mk2 differences

Post by moley »

Hi all
I made up a pair of the mk2 jampot ( the ones with the circlips and not the screw up ones) from a load of dismantled jampots

When I’ve put these back together there is a gap between covers and alloy top so the covers aren’t a tight fit and the covers are free to be pushed up and down probably not a lot of movement but previous one have had no play

I’ve rebuilt many jampots before and have never had this problem

Is the main tube that the bush runs up and down on a different length on mk1 and 2 or perhaps are the main springs a different length on
Mk1 and 2

Inite that the main tube is a different part number for mk1 and 2 so I wonder if that’s my problem

Many thanks

Andy

There are subtle differences. I had the same issues with a pair on the 500 CS and simply placed another set of leather washers in to take up the difference. Now on the centrestand there is a gap between the 2 covers. Off it there is no problem.

Sussed it just needed the damper priming ie moving up and down with the oil in until a good suction is felt all is spot on
