If you can show us a picture of the splines, it may not be as bad as you thought. Needs a press to remove the mainshaft and fit a new one but sometimes they look bad but will soldier on for donkeys years!

As Dave said, they soldier on even when quite worn on the thrust side of the splines.
Here's mine which was still working o.k. although did replace it whilst the engine was stripped to fit a new big end (before setting off on a 2 months and 3,000 miles European camping tour).
and just for interest here's the knackered big end crank pin.
