Hi all
I'm new to the group, having just bought a 1958 Matchless G3LS.
Just getting to know her and finding a few issues, that I may need to get help with.
Trying to get it started, and I have no spark.
Looking at the ignition coil it's a Lucas MA6 45077B
The resistance on the primary side is 2 ohms on the secondary side is 5.15k ohms.
Is this within spec?
Is it the right coil?
It also has points and condenser, and they seem to be OK.
Any ideas or pointers would be appreciated.
Cheers
Mike

Re: No Spark
Hi Mike and welcome.
The values seem ok to me for the resistance thought it’s been a while since I played with coil ignition, other tests to try would be are you getting voltage at the coil and also are the points breaking ok and not shorting to ground. Recently a friend of mines triumph would only run on one cylinder and that was due to the points still shorting to ground when they opened.
Cheers

Everyday’s a learning curve.

Re: No Spark
Hi Tazmantic
Thank you for your reply, and recommendations.
I have found the problem, it was a broken connection before the coil on the positive side.
Best Regards
Mike
