Tool boxes

Post by Tazmantic »

Hi I’ve got tool boxes for my G3ls but as I don’t have the original rear mudguard so are there any measurements for fitting so I can make brackets to get them in the correct position.

Thanks

No, at least I never found any. I've seen a picture somewhere and the bracket looks like a butterfly with 4 holes. I spent a long time with cardboard making a template which I transfered to alloy sheet and bent to fit. Most of it's hidden behing the toolbox.

Oh ok thanks Dave, I once again wrongly presumed they just bolted to the mudguard but if there is supposed to be a bracket I’ll try make something up.

Depends what rear mudguard you have. I presumed you had sports alloy guards for which you need brackets. If you've replica steel guards from India you'd just have to position them and drill through to bolt them on.

Cheers Dave sorry only just see your reply, yes I have ally mudguards and I managed to tweak them slightly and make a couple of spacers to fit them 👍

Or you could just contact someone who stocks copies of the original CS alloy brackets for the toolboxes...?

So I’m now presuming you are one of the well known ones that come up if you Google ajs spares? If so I have emailed you in the past but you didn’t have the items I wanted at the time and on this occasion and after asking on here I didn’t know such parts existed and mine is a bitsa so I just took it as I would need to make something. I do usually check the parts lists and web sites for the bits I need.
