Hi Guys, Just a quick one should the drain plug washer be copper or steel ??????

Fibre Washer would have most likely been original but copper, Dowty or aluminium crush will all do the job as steel washer on a drain plug will most probably fail to seal properly and leak.

Many Thanks Duncan, Had to drain sump and the washer is steel I had to put it back on as I didn't have anything else.
Will source a copper one.

Mine had a steel washer when I bought it in the mid 1970's and I used that ever since. I put a little Welseal round the bottom few threads of the drain "plug" and it holds oil and stayed put.
