I wouldn't recommend charing a LiPo/Lion etc from the Matchless, which would ask for trouble. They can be very fussy about how they are charged and if you are not careful you can get your ass burnt.

No Dynamo = no charging. Charged off bike in a proper charger. 
But I take your point LIon & dynamo charging not a good idea!
