I don't know what or how the fracture was caused.. but this how it was sorted back in the mid 70's

This plate was only fitted to the interm model ?

A question, what sort of play should be between the brake shoe spreader and the brass/bronze bushing in the plate ?

As little as possible or brake efficiency will suffer.
