Hello,
This post is intended to thank all who helped me with their detailed knowledge and encouraged me not to give up. The whole story began in June when the engine stopped without warning and did not want to start even after many attempts (including basic checks regarding ignition timing, carb./fuel supply etc.). For many weeks a real love-hate relationship developed between the engine and me. Your support and patience have meant that the engine now has a new piston, re-grinded valve seats, overhauled SR1 magneto and a new carburetor. And indeed … since yesterday late afternoon the beast fires and runs!!!
