Re: Chain case seal
Some points have not been mentioned.
First of all the so called up graded version of the band is very similar to the rubber band used in 1951 /1952 see attachments. Perhaps they used an extra washer to extend the spacer inside the chain case. This would have opened the two halves for the thickness of the rubber tongue between the two halves. Notice up to 1952 the rubber is dome shaped also narrower than 1953 on wards. The alloy band also became wider and flatter to fit the new rubber profile. Needless to say, the alloy band will rock if it does not match with the rubber.

Re: Chain case seal
1953 on wards alloy band's are the most common type you will find. So you probably have the correct type for you 1955 G3/LS
I do not know if the so called new design rubber band has the matching profile for this band.

Re: Chain case seal
Hi Rob,
So far, test fitting, looks good. Might need an extra spacer to widen gap to accommodate.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: Chain case seal
Hi,
Did you need to fit any internal or external ( additional ) spacers? Mines a pretty tight and close fit. Glad you’ve had success!

Re: Chain case seal
As mine is a special I’ve had to make most of the engine bolts so not sure the internal nut was the correct size anyway but I did add 2 washers extra to how I had it. Hope this helps
