1955 G3ls rear frame lug question

Post by Tazmantic »

Hi project coming on quite well, just wondered what the lugs were for?? I presume the ones on the legs with the foot pegs are for the kidney tool boxes but what are the ones on the top rail for? Mudguard some how?

The regulator sits on those brackets on the top frame rails. Nice clear picture in the manual page 57. http://archives.jampot.dk/book/Owners_m ... ingles.pdf

Hi,
Just checked my 55 and ,as Dave says, top two are for regulator fixing. The other lugs are for left and right tool box. I hope this helps.

Thanks Steve, as mine is Dynamo free those lugs won’t get used. So next silly question what are the ones on the back of the down tube either side of the big hole for 🤷???

Hi,

Top hole is for main positive connection to battery. Bolt and eye connection. Bottom hole spare and not used.
Presumably, you mean only lugs for regulator will not be used? Tool boxes will need the other lugs for fitting.

P.S. just looking at photo, is that the oil tank? Is it positioned correctly? Can’t quite get perspective.

Thanks again Steve, and yes that’s the oil tank it came with the wrong one so had to buy one that mounted via the 2 holes top and bottom of the frame hole.

Hi,

That’s correct, the studs ( from the oil tank ) then pass through the frame (to bolt through ) and attach the battery carrier . In the first photo the stud end can just be seen far left with the big shiny nut!
