I have a DU-42 6 1/2" Headlamp shell and front rim with bottom clip.
The reflector is damaged (scratched/rusted) and there is no glass or lamp bulb.
I am considering ordering a flat surface light. Like the ones here

I am assuming this item is held in the front rim with clips? Can someone confirm?
I have found these here:

Re: DU-42 Headlamp question
Yes that should be OK. I fitted the domed type and 'W' clips from the club. The problem I had was fitting the new rim to the old headlamp shell. It was just too small. I had to grind the inside of the rim with a small grindstone in my pillar drill until it went on (very tight!)

Re: DU-42 Headlamp question
The clips look right. The original WD G3 would not have been fitted with a pre focus bulb so you may need to get the bulb holder as well as the reflector and glass.

Re: DU-42 Headlamp question
Make sure you have the correct rim. A flat glass rim will have a U profile, the bottom of the U resting on the flat glass. A domed glass rim will have half a U profile, the domed glass fitting inside the half U profile. I use green house glass W clips, they are much cheaper and strong stainless steel.

Re: DU-42 Headlamp question
Clive, it appears the flat glass units have the reflector attached, almost like a sealed beam unit. So I just need to buy a BPF bulb holder to go with it.

Rob, I will have to have a look at my head lamp rim in the morning and check. Thanks for letting me know.Rob Harknett wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 9:56 am Make sure you have the correct rim.
