Post by oasist1980_LAPSED »

Only just brought a 61 G3 dutch army model ran perfectly fine this morning but i got caught in rain on the way back, so parked up in the garage until it stopped, I then took it out again started fine and idled fine but when riding it it just hesitates/splutters. Is there a bit of water in the points housing? Wipe it out with a paper hanky.
Dave.

Slack cable to start, tight when warm. (Air slide is held in open position ie "up" by cable under tension)

oooh, we much share pics, I also have a '61 in Dutch Army colours.

Remember there is a start and an emergency start, I find it will start in emergency mode but won't ride.

You posted the above about the spluttering this afternoon in this (G3) forum before you posted this evening in the 'General Topics' forum about finding the clogged filter and weak wiring. Has clearing the filter and fixing the wiring cured it now?
Would it be worth fitting a new Lucas coil? Assuming its 6v.
Only if the one that you have is faulty..

(It will help those trying to follow your progress if you continue with each post in the same thread to keep the entire 'story' in one place rather than starting a new thread for each post ;) ).

No problem at all, David. My comment was just a tip, but I expect you realise that it helps contributors to avoid repeating questions or making suggestions already covered if all the history of the problem and the actions you've taken are in the same thread (as they now are).

Excellent thank you guys, she just needs a little tlc. I want to drain the old oil and replace filter, possibly add 2 new inline fuel filters to the 2 fuel lines to the carb. Replace plug with the same or would you suggest the champion nc4 or 5??
