Hello,
my bike is a rigid AJS/M from 1953. With the bike came several old and new parts all in a box. I can't find any detailed photos regarding the rear wheel axle with spacers. The width of the rear frame portion for the axle is approx. 18,5 mm left and right. I suppose that's not as it has left Plumstead Rd. Maybe someone can bring light into the dark? See photos for details.
Thanks
Jürgen from Germany

Dear Mick,
thank for your comment. Of course I have a Spares List from 1953 but the drawnings there are not very clear and I hope to get more detailed informations.
Regards Jürgen

I think the threaded nut with flat sides is for the front wheel, it goes behind the brake plate on the threaded part of the front wheel spindle. As I remember the rear wheel brake plate is simply held in place by the spacers. Cannot help with the rest never had a late rigid.

The book you may find helpful Juergen is Neill's AJS Singles 1948 to 1957 on or around page 124. I have pdf of it and may have got it from the archive web site. If not I can email it to you?

Do ask more questions if it helps and I hope you can keep out of the rain and floods. Take care out there...
