1959 AJS 16 HW Alt/coil ATD springs

Post by Martin_Surrey »

I have had a look and cant find latest info on fitting the ATD springs.

I recall there was a debate that diagram of ATD in manual shows springs fitted to closer holes ie advance quicker.

Does anyone have experience of which holes to use?

I have just bought new springs and had some timing/carb issues before laid up, so wanted to check latest view

Thanks

That is spot on Mick. Ironically enough I was working on one this morning and it kicked back like a mule, the idle was also somewhat erratic. I swapped the springs over to the correct position as shown in your picture and all is well with the bike now.
