Re: 76 AV/IED Pre Monobloc Replacement for 1954 AJS M16
Hi Duncan,...you've just saved me a lot of hassle and perhaps £200. Many thanks! Page 55 of the AJS 'Manual' gives the bore size of the 76 AV/IED as 1", but I've just been down to the garage to measure up and the bore of my 76 AV/IED is definitely 1 1/16", as is the manifold, spacer and gaskets. Bloody manual! Sorry, to those who stated 1 1/16 and hope I haven't mislaid anyone. OK, lets go back and see if the club has any 1 1/16 monoblocs.

Indeed, the larger bore is correct at 1 1/16" as shown in the '55 Owners Manual for the Monobloc.
I was accepting your comment that you currently had a 1" bore 76 AV carb fitted and were intending to fit a 1 1/16" Monobloc. I discovered that my bike had a new 1" Monobloc soon after I got it and although I realised that it was incorrect I felt it worth mentioning my satisfactory experience with my 1" bore Monobloc.
After 19years it's probably time to change it as the chattering from the worn slide gets a bit much after an hour or so.
