Interesting to see Girlings listed for 1955 as they should be Jampots and the mounting distance (centre to centre) between the top and bottom Jampot pivot holes measures as 11.5” on my 1955 G80S when unladen. If it has Girlings fitted then the rear frame loop must be from a later machine.

Oh Christ not more anomalies 🤦??? I’m sure my rear frame is correct but it has shocks that measure that of the girlings and I’ve mounted the gearbox to suite, if the back end is suppose to be 0.9” lower I may not of needed to move it 😩

If it helps, my '54 G3/LS and my '55 M18S both have Jampot rear suspension units. Both measure exactly 12 inches centre to centre with the bikes on the centre stands and rear wheel free to spin.

A girling frame will have the upper mount boxed section with the top of the girling sitting inside it. The jampot frame had a top mounting which was a slightly curved "blade" and the Jampot mounts sat either side of it. It is possible you have a Jampot frame with the Girlings simply bolted on from outside it. The Girlings for our bikes had a special lower mount which went either side of the blade type lower mount similar to the Jampot lower mount, but it has to be matched to the box section top mount.

12” is probably about right on centre stand, mine was on its wheels but unladen so suspension could have compressed by 1/2”

And on my May '54 G3LS with Jampots it's 11 3/4" on the centre stand with rear wheel just lightly in contact with the ground so probably about 12" the same as yours if the wheel was free to turn.
