Your wheel looks like it has been laced up back to front

Just checked your photos against my 53 wheel - the lacing on the brake side corresponds, the lacing on the other side does not, the outers point anti clockwise and inners clockwise. That said it will all depend on how the rim has been pierced.
Yes there should be a nut securing the brake plate on the outside - part number 018071.

Re: 1955 G3ls front wheel and forks
Thanks again guys not sure what I’d do without this forum, so no other spacers or washers??
I’ve added some pics of wheel for lacing… I hope it is ok as can’t see how else it would go but I know nothing about wheel lacing.

Was the front wheel for the 1955 only produced for 1 year like lots of the bits because looking at the parts list a few bits seem to say 1955 only... as ive picked up a wheel that looks correct to me but dont know how I tell what year its off ??

Re: 1955 G3ls front wheel and forks
ok so went to fit the wheel today and its not sitting in the centre of the forks, when I do the outer nut up the inner (brake plate nut) pulls up to the fork leg but it is also touching on the angle of the fork leg, there seems to be quit a lot of thread showing and the spindle is sub flush of the other fork leg.... should there be a spacer somewhere or should the brake plate nut be wider
