Well after a trial by drilling a 5mm hole in the front of the engine and using a drift, the oil pump did not want to move more than about 3/4 inch, so enlarged the hole 8mm and used a bigger drift, pump came out eventually as you can see, the crank worm has a small amount of damage so maybe have to replace the shaft as well, not sure how much damage to that it can tolerate, I will post a picture later of the crank shaft.

Looks like I will ned a new set of crank cases if anyone has any for sale for a 61/G5 Max

Ugh, what a mess!
If you're doing a rebuild, it's worth replacing the timing side shaft as a matter of course; even if the oil pump drive has survived, there is likely to be a wear ridge where it runs in the timing side bush.
To prevent this happening again, you'll want the timing side bush clearance to be right (otherwise the crankshaft will hop about, resulting in the damage you've seen).

The shaft is badly worn so yes, does anyone have a preferred crank rebuilder?

Ok so we have three sets of S/H G2 crank cases at Kettering. I am sure there is a 1961 set.

Hi Steve, I have a good G2 set, really need a 1961 G5 set.
as well as a good crank rebuilder.
