Just reading through this thread and wondered why I can’t see Jim’s (cosmic-wizard) last images which is a shame. I’m trying to work out how much spring tension there needs to be on the valve lifter mechanism.

Only enough force provided by the external spring on the rocker box to return the valve lifter arm to its 'at rest' position, thus preventing the internal shaft from contacting the zorst valve's rocker arm.

A previous owner (more than 13 years ago) removed the valve lifter from my recently acquired Model 8. If its not too difficult, I would quite like to restore it. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet but I might see what I can do.
