I've built several wheels using a variation of the Taverner jig and it works very well.

Thanks, that looks like a good idea, this doesn't account for the offset though?

Thanks, that looks like a good idea, this doesn't account for the offset though?

Yes it does, the hub goes down on the baseboard and rim location blocks are made the thickness to give the correct off set.

The original book is now being reprinted and is an excellent buy. Mind you I should have sold my original when they were fetching £150!

Lost me! didn't think there was an offset on the wheels, wasn't on mine when I measured it before rebuilding it, straight pull spokes etc, kind rehards

On the front maybe but isn't there usually an offset on the back to compensate for the sprocket etc?
