Model 14 CSR Fork Stem Thread

Post by Mark Tyler »

Hi, does anyone know the thread spec. of the top of the steering stem?
I have bought a new adjust nut and dome locknut, but the stem thread on the forks is
slightly damaged and needs cleaning up with a die nut.

It may be better to get a thread file to clean the thread up. This could be used for other jobs in future whereas a die nut can only be used on one size.

Thanks Dave, I'll take a look on eBay... Sounds useful to have.

Hi

Couldn't agree more with this advice - AMC Classic list a very good quality file that should cover all of you needs, now and future:

If you think it's a bit pricey, compare it to a couple of dies ;)

Thanks Mick, never thought of looking on AMC miscellaneous!
Sykes Pickavant is a decent make, I'll try one out...
