Isnt the risk that if the eye bolts come loose then the bolt will turn and miss the stop so damaging the tank?

The earlier suggestion of metal bent over the missing part of the wing and bolted through the hole does not have that risk.

Yes, that's what I thought might happen.
However, I threaded the holes in the steering head, so the nuts on the top are effectively locknuts. I did them up tight and they have never moved...
