Post by Kiwiengineer »

Hi does anyone know where I could get the chrome ring for the headlight and if possible a shell and the beam unit?

Hi

That may be the case, but in this event it can't match them for price.

We never will be able to, the HQ costs more to run and our overheads are greater.

Good evening from Portugal,
I recently bought a lovely 1959 G2 and since then I am also looking for these items, rim and reflector. But my G2 seems to have a 5 1/2" headlamp.
These seem to be rare, someone having any suggestions?

1959 g2 had a 5 1/2" headlight not 6 1/2
I believe bsa bantams had 5 1/2" headlights, it might be worth looking in that direction

That is worth knowing, thanks. I am not even sure this is the original shell for a 1959 G2, the bike has been given a "modern" look in 1994, the PO told me. Trying to post a picture of it.

Thanks for the replies the early g2s had James forks and a smaller headlight shell where as from 60 on they went to a 6 1/2 with a 5.75 beam unit. Which seems yo make them rare, I believe the bsa Batam rings are a different diameter on the inside that fits to the headlight shell,

Rob, how do you know what our costs and overheads are? It really annoys me when you make these statements publicly (here and on Facebook in the past) as if you know how our business is run. Those are not the only factors involved. More often than not, my prices are good because I have trusted manufacturers who I have used for many years and I order large quantities to keep the unit price lower. More importantly, as we have discussed before, our company exists in a world dominated by the Club who are the default source of parts for many members regardless of cost, quality or service. So we have to do all we can to stay competitive and keeping our margins as low as possible is one of those ways.
