AJS Model 16 - 679 NMK

Post by Eamonn »

From an email just received:
Can you help - a 79 year old friend is trying to locate his old 1962 AJS motor cycle, index 679 NMK. He is a retired Met police sergeant and sold it to a colleague in 1969. He has tried DVLA to establish the owner without success. I wonder if any members can shed a light on where this treasured memory is now or has been. I would be very grateful for any help or guidance to assist this gentleman. Many thanks
As usual, if you have any information please let me know on webmaster@jampot.com and I will pass on the information

The DVLA indicates the bike is taxed until December 2021, so presumably it's still in use somewhere...

679 NMK is a Middlesex Reg. no. issued May 1962. Some records still exist, but not NMK. There are quite a few NM? so may be worth a try.
Contact Omnibus Society Library which is actually in Walsall. Mr A W Wills 01642 248321. My list is dated 2015 ( I must update it ) the telephone number is probably that of the library, but may not now be Mr Wills still doing the job. You could perhaps search the library to check current details. Check the website date, quite often you will get an out of date website listing.

I did say as the Library was in Wallsal perhaps the phone no. is for the library. Perhaps this Mr Wills lived in Midlesbrough and was his home number.
I have now updated my Kithead trust files. For Wallsal it now states only reg. no's. that survive, which are unchanged since my 2015 files. 2021 list show's no contact details.

That'd be one hell of a commute.
