1959 M16 converting 6v to 12v

Post by mikeydpippin »

Apologies if this has been asked before i have done some searching but still confused

I have a coil ignition bike which has a blue and a white wire coming from the alternator yes just the 2 wires, currently (pardon the pun) connecting to the existing 6v regulator

Bill Mead is making me a new positive earth loom to replace the mess I have now….

I will get a 12v coil
12v battery
12v bulbs
12v horn

It looks as though the A Reg one regulator will be a good buy but not sure

Questions
2 wired alternator is this ok as most posts suggest it should be 3 wires
Is the A reg one regulator a good buy?
Is the points and condensor ok to leave (currently 6v)
I have no EMG start guess because of the existing 2 wire alternator and when converted to 12v the EMG will stay defunct….

The 2 wire alternator is Ok, ideal really. The A reg one reg/rec from AO services is a good one. Your existing points and condensor will be OK.
