K2F Magneto

Post by Taid »

I want to put a remote cut-out on my M31, linked to the anti-sumping tap

The Lucas part available on the net is screw on and seems to match illustrations of the K2F, but my magneto is different,. (it is marked K2F on the plate)

The existing end cover with the cut out button is all metal, held on 2 studs diagonally arranged ..

I bought what seemed to be a direct replacement with a electrical connection for the cut out as in the following photo.

But it doesn't fit .. the 'ears' are too thick and leave no room for the nuts and the internal diameter is fractionally too small ..

I thing I can possibly modify it to fit, but being inately idle, does anyone know of a supply of a cut-out end cap that is a correct fit for this model of the K2F

I've never had a K2F mag so can't comment on the club ones. Maybe the cheaper one is Bakelite and the other one is steel?

I assume the photo is of your new but wrong end cap which doesn't help much (as you said it doesn't fit).
A pic of your different mag end would help someone who knows about K2F's to advise what end cap would fit it.

The end cap you posted is correct for your model. The club do not stock the kill button option for this as it was never a factory option.

Tony Cooper told me when he restored my mag the mag with the kill button has a different screw on end cap and bearing housing.
