My M31 has '389 10' stamped on the flange ..
From the spares list it should be 389/29 .. the only ref to 389 10 I can find is for Vincent Shadow ..
I can't find any reference to the differences between the two.
Do I need to get a '29' or will the 10 be ok, bearing in mind that on the Vincent it would feed 500cc whereas the M31 is 650?
Thanks for any advice ..

The /29 or /10 or any other figure after the slash was only put there to identify the original jetting set-up to aid selection of the correct one from the factory stock during the bike's assembly on the motorcycle production line.
On the 650 it's supplying 1 x 325cc cylinder at a time not 650cc so with the correct throat diameter and jetting it's fine.

I don't know if this is where you found the Vincent reference, if not it's a useful list of all the monobloc references, their original use and set up:

I googled Amal 389/10 and the only thing that came up was an ad by British Bike Bits, offering a pair for Black Shadow/Prince ..Joker_Bones wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 9:33 pm I don't know if this is where you found the Vincent reference, if not it's a useful list of all the monobloc references, their original use and set up:

Not one of the carbs on my bikes has the correct suffix, when you take them apart I've always found the jets have been changed but the throttle slide is the original fitment be it right or wrong... Bit more expensive to swap I guess
