N1 Magneto Rebuild
After much mucking about with my N1 Thorspark conversion I am seriously considering going back to magneto ignition. AMOC spares seems to do a trade in for your old one plus £390!!!
Does anyone know of a reputable mag repair company that could re-commision my N1 to rude health and would it cost less than the exchange?
Cheers, Chris

What's the problem with the Thorspark, Chris? I've fitted two - one to my G80S and the other to my Panther 120. Both are behaving perfectly, in fact Ive just finished a 100 mile day out on the Matchless which never missed a beat, as usual.

Re: N1 Magneto Rebuild
It was great. I did a re-wire (like for like and tidy up) coil died. Put a new Lucas 5 ohm on. That seems to have died. All I was getting was intermittent sparking at best. Contacted Sussex Motorcycles and did a test bypassing the switch and leaving out the fuse. Nowt. So either a brand new coil is duff or the unit is. Doing my head in as I should be out and about in the sunshine enjoying the bike.

Hope you find someone with a turnaround time of less than 2 or 3 monthsspookefoote1956 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 5:47 pm I should be out and about in the sunshine enjoying the bike.
Not wishing to teach egg-sucking to an elderly relative, but did you fit a thick earth lead direct to the battery terminal (I use an agm Powerline battery with screw on terminals rather than rely on the flimsy wires on such as the otherwise excellent Motobatt jobs). When I was fitting mine to the G80 I tried it before I did that and you do get a 'burst of random sparks' instead of one good one.
The Tspark has a 5 year guarantee so could be worth asking SM to check it. If it needs replacing it'll be much quicker than waiting for a mag to be returned.

I have a good earth from a 2.5mm core direct from the battery to the head.
