Ajs 16 sprocket

Post by Rik Marsh »

Hi would anyone know the correct factory sizes of the gearbox and engine sprockets for my jam pot 1954 16 ms
The reason I ask it seems to be happy at 45mph when I get to 50ish it sounds like it’s reving high I am no speed junkie but these were rated at a top speed of 78 A crushing speed of 50/55 on long runs would be great
The gear number is GB28A 54 which after checking I think is out of a G3L
I have looked online but get conflicting answers
Any help would be great thanks in advance

Standard for '54 16MS - engine sprocket 18 teeth, gearbox 16 teeth. Some members fit a 17 tooth sprocket on the gearbox to help with cruising. Why don't you come along to the North West Section? We meet at Charnock Richard Football Club on the 2nd thursday of the month about 8pm. (Next thursday). You'd be made very welcome and can ask others about your gearing.
Cheers Dave.
