have just found this kick start lever, with a Matchless label on it,does anyone know which model it fits, it fits a Burman b52 gear box

It could be for an Ariel Arrow/Leader. I think they had a straight kickstart, used a burman gearbox too.

The shape is different, on the top of the lever.
