Getting V5c from dating cert

Post by Tazmantic »

Hi all had a search and seems to be loads on this so hope just asking will get me the answers I need :? when I fill in the V55/5 do I need to send the original dating cert I got from the club or will a copy do? also do I send the cert that tells me the frame and engine information (dates, testers etc) and do I need to send any photos of the bike to the DVLA..

Thanks

You have to send the original but not the letter. yes photos of the bike and frame number helps.

There are a load of questions on the form that can be ignored as they want emissions data. I just left them out. good clear photos of the numbers, with the paint rubbed back if necessary. My last registration did involve a visit from a vehicle inspector, owing to covid, but if you do get a visit they will be chatty but what they are after finding out is how much is new parts, and I think it will be registered for the year of the youngest major part, eg engine frame gearbox.

it makes sense as they probably don't inspect them all and if you have sent the photos yours may be the one they choose not to look at.

Sorry guys another question, what year should I put? It’s a 1955 model but was manufactured September 1954 so should I put 1954??

Why not give the DVLA a ring and get it from the horse's mouth? Having said that, the answer seems pretty self- evident to me!

You may be surprised. I registered a bike around Christmas and they were very quick. Had it inspected too. The V5C arrived in a couple of weeks after that.
