jampot drain plug

Post by jimh »

Can somebody help me to identify the fine thread form of the drain plug that's fitted in the Bottom Pivot on my 1955 G3LCS, it's been damaged over the years and I cant see it listed in the spares book, it measures 3/8" Diameter with 28 TPI.
Thanks Jim

That's because it wasn't used on a '55 bike. The drain plug was only fitted on early 1951 bikes with the very first jampots. So you have a bottom pivot from a '51 bike (or maybe the whole jampot?) Does it have the circlip under the bottom cover or a screwed collar?

Hi

I believe the plug, (012019), where fitted, is 1/8" BSPP.

So it's the same as the petrol tap thread?

Hi Dave

Seems to be from the OP's dimensions and the data in the Russell spreadsheet:

Hi Dave/Mick
Thanks for your help, the Jampots have obviously been replaced at some time and I can now see the drain plug listed on the 1951 parts list.
Cheers Jim
