6v strobe

Post by mavs »

Hi
Im converting my 1952 ajsi c16ms to electronic ignition.
A strobe light is recommended for final setup.
All strobe lights i have seen specify 12v.
My bike is 6v

My question is :-
Will a 12v strobe light work on my bikes 6v battery or will i have to use a 12v remote battery ?

Cheers

Cheers. Thanks for the prompt reply.
I'll run it off my other bike's battery.

If you look on various web sites you can find small electronic convertors that make 12v from 6v , you will need to find the power consumption of the strobe first though to get a suitable one.I used one for my 12v Garmin (an old one before USB 5v power) and it still works fine.
But as you normally do the job in the garage a 12v battery is often to be found somewhere.

I've run my strobe off my 12v battery charger as the strobe requires very little current.
