Horn switch 76209 and position

Post by bobward51ajs »

Concours de elegance Restoration of1951 AJS spring twin (Australian Delivery)

part No 016427 (Lucas 76209 Pushbutton )
according to the parts list the horn button is separate to the dip switch (i have the correct Lucas dip switch OEM part 380521 Lucas 31482)
I'm looking for information regarding the correct horn switch and placement measurements.
i have researched and found nothing on these switches. I believe according to the spares list they were screwed/ tapped directly to the handle bar on the right hand side. does anyone have any specific information as to a photo/photos and precise the location and mounting for this switch
any help will be much appreciated

There's a drawing on page 8 of the '51 G9 instruction book that confirms position of the 'push switch' on rh side of 'bars but not much help with precise details and mounting I'm afraid.

76209A is listed in the Lucas parts lists as superseded way back - but can't find a supersession chart that covers it.
The part is also described as 'HP26' in the lists though - which indicates a threaded body as shown here (76200), but not sure how that would be fitted exactly:

Threaded ones do seem to be available (Google 'Lucas HP26'), see eg NOS 76200 offered by baxtercycle.com at $35 US - but is that the right, or closest-to-right, bit???
